Welcome to Scottish Oak Buildings

Scottish Oak Buildings based in Perth, Scotland offer a full, professional design and build service for Oak timber framed homes and buildings.

In ancient Celtic culture, the Oak Tree (Duir), more than any other, was revered to the point of being held to be sacred, for its strength and longevity; a giver of sustenance for people and animals; a provider of material for building and shelter as well as fires for the preparation of food and to warm the body.

Many Celtic (and later) sailing ships were made of Oak, making them strong and durable. Oak was used to build bridges and – even in ancient times – timber framed houses, churches and meeting halls. In the Celtic Christian era, it was common for churches and monasteries to be built near Oak trees.

It is also said that where Oak, Ash and Thorn grow together, faeries live although we have no proof of that.

As a construction material, Oak has no equal and it is our passion to encourage and perpetuate its use in modern, Green Oak, post and beam architecture.

Our two principals, who have combined experience of more than sixty years in bespoke timber frame housing, are committed to providing, for their clients, the most stress free and fulfilling construction experience possible.
